La recherche : une occupation fascinante

"Research can be a fascinating occupation. It incorporates many elements of a mystery novel; the heroes and heroines (researchers), the crimes (societal or theoretical problems), villains (unexpected crises, frustrating computer software and occasionally even recalcitrant subjects), deductions and inductions (hypotheses and theories), the investigation (systematic and objective examination and analysis of data) and of course, suspense (waiting for the resolution). On rare occasions there might even be a surprise ending when, in addition to answering the major question or hypothesis, some unanticipated finding occurs.”
